Organic Chemistry Taught Using Solubility and Equilibrium

Organic Chemistry Taught Using Solubility and EquilibriumWith the help of an organic chemistry tutor, you can learn all you need to know about solubility and equilibrium in chemistry. One of the things you should learn is how to calculate the solubility equilibrium value for a specific solute.Every chemical reaction occurs because one or more atoms from a molecule of a certain species are either missing or on a collision course with another molecule that has bonded with them. This collision usually leads to a reaction that produces energy. The equilibrium value for each molecule in a solution is determined by the pressure of the molecules involved in the reaction. In equilibrium, it is impossible to measure exactly how much a molecule of a certain species is dissolving in a certain solution, because the equilibrium pressure is exact and can be expressed as a percentage. Therefore, to calculate the solubility equilibrium value, one must know the density of the substance and then multip ly it by the specific gravity. Once the specific gravity has been calculated, you will need to know the concentration of the substance in the solution. In a discussion of solubility and equilibrium, it is important to realize that different equilibrium conditions exist for dissolving substances that differ greatly in molecular weight. For example, mixing one gram of salt and water results in a density change and an equilibrium value. For solids, such as in a block of ice, an increase in density due to an increase in molecular weight will result in an equilibrium value that is equal to the density of the whole block of ice.The equilibrium value is measured in an appropriate reference point where the equilibrium is said to be in equilibrium, because the concentrations of each of the components are equal and opposite. When the concentration of a particular molecule in a solution is greater than the equilibrium value, the resulting concentration is said to be in partial equilibrium. Part ial equilibrium will continue until the specific gravity of the solution is equal to the equilibrium value. It is very important to understand how and why the equilibrium happens in chemical reactions to avoid accidents and misunderstandings. When a reaction occurs, some of the molecules involved will have their molecules squeezed into the channels in the outer surface of the reaction vessel. The nature of these channels varies with the type of reaction being performed and is affected by temperature and pressure. Therefore, it is essential to know the various types of reaction vessels before experimenting with them. There are many ways in which a chemical reaction can take place and can cause the individual atoms from a molecule to be placed in different positions. Inorganic reactions can result in the release of ions, while organic reactions can involve chemical compounds that contain carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur or phosphorous. They can also involve the production of o rganic compounds that have a similar composition to the compound the reaction is catalyzing.Solubility and equilibrium are just two of the many topics covered in organic chemistry and are fundamental concepts to the subject. The main reason for taking up this subject is to find out how substances interact with each other. This knowledge helps us understand why some things react differently to others and what impact they have on the environment around us.

Graphing Linear Equation Worksheet

Graphing Linear Equation Worksheet Graphing Linear equations worksheet shows the method of graphing given equation. Graphing equations leads to get solution in easiest way. There are various methods of graphing linear equations. The equation can be framed using graph of a line. Graphing method helps in solving many real world problems. Now let us take problems of framing equation from given graph. the equation we are framing is in slope intercept form Example 1:- Find equation of this line from the given graph Solution 1:- From the graph take any 2 points on the line and find out slope Let us take points (-4, -1) and (0, -2) Take these points as (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) We know slope = y2 y1 / x2 x1 So slope = -2 (-1) / 0 (-4) = -1 / 4 Y Intercept is the point where the line insects y axis. So y- intercept = -2 Therefore the equation of line is y = -(1/4)x - 2 Example 2:- Write equation of a line using the graph? Solution2:- Take any 2 points from the graph on the line and find slope using the points Let us take points (0, -4) and (2, 0) Take these points as (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) We know slope = y2 y1 / x2 x1 So slope = 0 (-4) / 2 0 = 2 Y Intercept is the point where the line insects y axis. So y- intercept = -4 Therefore the equation of line is y = 2x 4 These examples clearly illustrate the method of framing equation from the given graph.

Preparing For The ACT Test Online ACT Prep Online Tutoring Tutorpace

Preparing For The ACT Test Online ACT Prep Online Tutoring Tutorpace ACT is a standardized test taken by high school students applying to colleges and universities in the United States. ACT test examines students ability to take on college level courses once admitted into a college or university. If the basic foundation of a student in the main subjects is good, then it is easier to handle college level subjects. Hence ACT examines a student in 4 main sections: English, Mathematics, Reading and Science reasoning. Those who are willing to take Writing test, for them even writing section is included. In order to score well in these tests, students should stick to learning and improving basic concepts of these subjects. The main purpose of ACT is to test the academic and conceptual knowledge of the student; therefore students should practice learning and understanding them. In the English section, students should improve their grammar skills and must pay attention to details such as sentence fragments, clauses, organization of ideas, punctuations etc. Questions are asked on these details and hence students should understand the meaning of them. For Mathematics section, it is helpful if students prepare the list of important formulas present in math topics so that they can study them and understand when to use them. Reading section includes comprehension passages and students are expected to read the passage and answer the given questions accordingly. Science section also includes science related passages which the students should understand and analyze. To do well in the writing section, students should practice writing essays on a particular topic.

My Experience at Johns Hopkins University

My Experience at Johns Hopkins University The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teachtheyre sharing their college experiences as well. Abigail is currently a sophomore studying history at Johns Hopkins University. She specializes in French tutoring, social studies tutoring, and a number of other subjects. See what she had to say about her experience as a student at Johns Hopkins University: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. Abigail: Johns Hopkins is located in Baltimore. However, the campus is completely enclosed and no cars are allowed to drive on JHU property. This makes the campus, with its brick pathways and ample green space, feel much more suburban. JHU is secured by the blue light emergency system and 24/7 security guards in every residential hall and spread throughout campus. Buses are provided both by the university and the city of Baltimore to travel throughout the city, although they do not always arrive on time. How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants at Johns Hopkins University? Abigail: All of my teaching assistants have been extremely helpful and flexible. Theyve arranged to meet with me outside of class to review essays or, in the case of my language teachers, practice speaking. Classes may have hundreds of students but sections are never larger than twenty, so TAs will usually know you personally and work with you directly. Professors are much less available. Some classes have several hundred students, so the professor doesnt know individual students well. Some professors only spend a few hours on campus a week and are difficult to meet with outside of class. Many professors have difficulty using technology and are much harder to contact through email. Hopkins students have multiple academic advisers, including pre-professional advisors for pre-med and pre-law students. We meet regularly with these advisors, and it is fairly easy to schedule extra meetings if necessary. Advisers can give general advice about class selection and degree requirements. How would you describe the dorm liferooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Abigail: Three of the freshman residence halls (AMRS I-III) are on campus. The rest of the residence halls are in walking distance, in an area patrolled 24/7 by Hopkins security and covered by the blue light system. The rooms at Hopkins are a fairly standard size. Students can choose dorms with a shared public restroom used by the entire floor or suites with private bathrooms used only by the suite. RAs regularly plan social activities for the dorms and many students become very close to their dormmates. Students have a certain number of meals each week they can eat at the dining hall (the FFC), as well as an allocation for the semester of dining dollars that can be used to purchase food from the Charles Street Market. Hopkins does provide options for Kosher, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dining, but their options are often limited and, in my opinion, fail to take into consideration what a full meal would be (for example, providing only rice and vegetables for vegetarians). Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? Abigail: Hopkins is heavily skewed toward science majors, especially people pursuing pre-med. The largest humanities majors are International Studies and Writing Seminars. Im studying history. Though the universitys academic reputation as a whole is extremely strong, I often wish I had chosen another university because the history department offers such limited choices in terms of classes, internships, research, and other opportunities. How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Abigail: Greek life is very limited. Most people make friends through classes and clubs. How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services? Abigail: The Career Center is very helpful for certain professions but not for others. Pre-med students, for example, receive extensive mentoring, and an extremely high percentage of them are accepted to medical schools. But for a humanities major, I don't think there are nearly as many opportunities for internships or jobs. It depends on your major and career path. How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges at Johns Hopkins University? Abigail: The library has group-study areas but also a silent floor, in addition to private study rooms, so however you learn best theres space for you. The library generally isnt too crowded and is a very pleasant place to work. The dorm lounges are usually quiet and fairly empty, because most people prefer to study in the library. Describe the surrounding town. Abigail: There are some fun areas of Baltimore like the Inner Harbor and Little Italy with lots of shops and restaurants. Generally, however, there isnt a whole lot for a college student to do in the city, and getting around can be hard because Baltimore public transportation is somewhat unreliable. Students usually stay on campus. How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Abigail: There are only about 5,000 students at Hopkins. Most of my classes have less than 20 students in them, which provides an opportunity to work more closely with the professor and have your questions answered. Even larger lectures, which can have several hundred students, break apart once a week into sections. Sections are led by grad student TAs and usually have about ten students each. This gives students a chance to have their questions answered and review specific material they had questions about, as well as get feedback on essays and projects. Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Abigail: During fall semester, I was very disappointed because several of my classes were not led by professors at all; the only teacher was a graduate student TA. My French TA, however, went above and beyond to help me improve my French. I met with her once a week outside of class. She reviewed my essays with me and gave me a more in-depth explanation of my grammatical errors. She also practiced speaking in French with me so I could improve my pronunciation. Very few students took advantage of her office hours, so I could usually meet with her one-on-one. With the extra practice, I was able to skip the second semester of Advanced French.
